You will love Short History of Nearly Everything. I like Bill Bryson's style. Also check out his Mother Tongue (about the English Language)& Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid. Although Life and Times is about growing up in 1950s America it's very amusing.

hi sidu, i have heard about the book 'Indias Unending journey'. But, didnt get a chance to read. If you can let me know your thoughts about this book, it will be helpful for me to decide whether it is worth a buy or not.
'India's Unending Journey' mostly talks about how understanding and embracing uncertainty is a good thing, and how absolute certainty in religion and politics is one of the biggest problems in the western world.
Each chapter is a pretty much stand-alone essay making a specific point as part of his broader argument and citing a case study to support it.
it's pretty decent - I'd recommend it.

Seeing that some of our tastes coincide..and since 1:4 is a nice ratio :), have you tried 'Harroun and Sea of Stories' by Salman Rushdie?especially the one with illustrations(done by some Paul)?
It is a book worth a hundred books.
