The next OCC Bangalore meeting is being held at ThoughtWorks Bangalore on 14th October between 11 am and 1 pm.
You can sign up at Upcoming so we have some idea about the numbers. Registration is not a pre-requisite, it just makes it easier for us to plan.
The OCC Bangalore mailing list is here.

What's the Open Coffee Club? Here's a quote from the website:
The OpenCoffee Club was started to encourage entrepreneurs, developers and investors to organise real-world informal meetups to chat, network and grow.

Why not call it the crack club instead?

Coffee puts the system under the strain of metabolizing a deadly acid-forming drug, depositing its insoluble cellulose, which cements the wall of the liver, causing this vital organ to swell to twice its proper size. In addition, coffee is heavily sprayed. (Ninety-two pesticides are applied to its leaves.) Diuretic properties of caffeine cause potassium and other minerals to be flushed from the body.

All this fear went away when I quit, and it was a book that inspired me to do it called The Truth About Caffeine by Marina Kushner. There are five things I liked about this book:

1) It details--thoroughly--the ways in which caffeine may damage your health.

2) It reveals the damage that coffee does to the environment. Specifically, coffee was once grown in the shade, so that trees were left in place. Then sun coffee was introduced, allowing greater yields but contributing to the destruction of rain forests. I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere else.

3) It explains how best to go off coffee. This is important. If you try cold turkey, as most people probably do, the withdrawal symptoms will likely drive you right back to coffee.

4) Helped me find a great resource for the latest studies at CaffeineAwareness.org

5) Also, if you drink decaf you won’t want to miss this special free report on the dangers of decaf available at www.soyfee.com

Woot! Slay that coffee, man, slay it.
My folks grow the stuff and even I didn't know they sprayed 92 kinds of pesticide on it. No wonder the profits are so poor.
Er... did I mention the meeting isn't about coffee, it's about startups?

While walkig back from office yesterday I got this idea which "I" really think was amazing and thought of putting it on my blog. But as hardly any one reads my blog so thought it will be a waste. Any ways what better than posting the idea on your blog. I hope I haven't created too much hype aboout the idea.

I guess most of use firefox instead of IE or are atleast familiar with the concept of tabbed browsing. Besides this what I rtelly love about firefox is its ability to restore seesion. I mean u close the browser and next time when it starts it will open all the tabs that were open when u last closed the browser. Google sync, if any has used it has just taken this feature one step further.

Anyways there is one shortcoming which I see in this concept. Suppose I have 15 tabs open(trust me I do keep zillion of tabs open at one time),and out of this there are assume 5 that are related to work and remaing 10 are the ones that I have found out when I hjad googled for s.th else. But I don't wanna close these tabs bcoz I really want to read the matter under these tabs and I am afraid that I might not be able to find it again.
So i have 2 options --- 1) I either bookmark these tabs and then open them later2) I keep all the tabs open and they open every time I open the browser which will obviiously slow the m/c.

So what I have in mind is tagging and profile creation in browsers. What I mean from profiles in browser is s.th similar to mobile phone. I can have various profiles like office, home etc and I can tag each of page that I open in firefox under these profiles and everytime I open firfox I get an option wether I want to open some profile or a fresh browser itself. Also if I am in certain profile every page I open gets tagged under thast profile.

Trust me when I go this idea the feeling was no less that archimedes discovering his law(don remember the name"). I think itz a pretty descent idea. Please let me knwo what u think about it.
